What we really know . . .
. . .
is
that the universe is our future.
What only a few of us have the courage to face
is that our
efforts to realize this future have been timid and uninspired.
The forces of despair, stupidity and cynicism have robbed our generation
of the infinite, by squandering time on war and
superstition.
We, among the last of mortal generations, can ennoble our lives
by our total
commitment to the Great Attainable Imperatives:
the elimination of death and the exploration of the universe. Only then will
our species truly deserve the name homo sapiens.
For us, cursed to oblivion, there remain the consolation of irony and the transcendence of love.
